The SEC's Division of Trading and Markets has released FAQs addressing broker-dealer concerns about upcoming rule amendments for U.S. Treasury securities clearing. Jamie Selway emphasized the staff's commitment to guiding market participants toward the December 2026 and June 2027 compliance deadlines for cash and repo transactions, respectively.
Chairman Paul S. Atkins named Commissioner Mark T. Uyeda to oversee the agency's central clearing transition for Treasuries, calling the initiative critical for market stability. Industry requests for additional guidance are being addressed, with Atkins and Uyeda pledging continued collaboration to ensure a smooth implementation.
